My Mission

Today, my journey reflects more than a career — it reflects a vision. My mission is to elevate Caribbean fusion cuisine onto the global stage, positioning it as both a cultural celebration and a lifestyle choice.

I aim to redefine what “meal prep” can be by offering dishes that combine nutrition, convenience, and gourmet quality, tailored for busy professionals, travellers, and health-conscious communities.

The future of Jaheel Johnson’s Caribbean Fusion extends beyond the plate. It is about innovation — from vending machines in airports and gyms, to strategic partnerships with supermarkets and lifestyle brands.

It is about building a digital ecosystem where food, culture, and storytelling intersect, inspiring the next generation of food lovers to embrace Caribbean flavours in their everyday lives.

Most importantly, it is about legacy. My goal is to create a brand that not only delivers meals but also educates, inspires, and connects people to culture. Every dish tells a story. Every venture opens a door. And every step I take is guided by the belief that food should not only fuel the body, but also ignite conversation, celebrate heritage, and create lasting memories.

2012

Discovering My Passion

My journey began in 2012, when I first discovered a passion for cooking at school.

Although the lessons were simple and the curriculum basic, I picked up the key fundamentals of cooking that would stay with me for life. It wasn’t just about following recipes — it was about curiosity, creativity, and the joy of transforming raw ingredients into something meaningful.

Those early experiences ignited a fire that has shaped every step of my path since.

2020 – 2022

My Insight to the Industry

In 2020, I advanced my path by studying Culinary Industry Management, where I refined my knowledge of menu development, food costing, and the balance between culinary creativity and operational efficiency.

Although I made the decision to leave during my second year, the experience sharpened my strategic approach to the industry and expanded my perspective on how to transform passion into a scalable business.

It showed me the importance of combining creativity with structure — the mindset of a chef with the vision of an entrepreneur.

2021

Entering the Digital Space

By September 2021, I began building an online presence as a food content creator, translating my skills from the kitchen into the digital world. I developed expertise in storytelling, food styling, videography, and audience engagement, creating content that resonated with people beyond just taste — it spoke to culture, lifestyle, and community.

This chapter was pivotal: it taught me how to build a brand in a digital-first world, where the ability to connect with audiences online is just as vital as the food itself.

Through platforms like YouTube and social media, I discovered the power of digital storytelling to inspire, educate, and entertain. It became more than content — it was the foundation of a community, and a tool that continues to amplify my mission of making Caribbean fusion cuisine accessible to people everywhere.

2021 – 2023

The Take-Off from TGI Fridays

In December of that same year, I joined TGI Fridays — and within just ten months, rose from Commis Chef to Head Chef and ultimately Deputy Restaurant Manager.

My time there was transformative. I mastered the rhythm of a high-volume kitchen, learned the essentials of bartending, waitering, and guest relations, and developed the leadership skills required to manage teams, train staff, and oversee operations with excellence.

What made this period unique was not just the promotions, but the intensity of the learning. It gave me resilience under pressure, the ability to lead teams in demanding environments, and the confidence to navigate the full spectrum of hospitality.

It was a crash course in leadership, service, and execution — skills that became invaluable when I decided to build my own brand.
